Father’s Day ?

“A father is someone who has picture of his kids

In his wallet where his money used to be”

I read this one day on a father’s day card.  I found few cards more but the options were limited. And then I realized there were more cards and bouquets, watches, chocolates and other gifts around mother’s day.

Does this mean Father’s day isn’t as “hyped” as mother’s day? Well, may be true. All thanks to the advertisements, gift cards, discounts on mother’s day and TV shows with interviews of wonderful mother achievers and how they should be respected even more. But are fathers forgotten for the role they play?

Not wishing your mothers on mother’s day might sound like a crime but you are guilt free doing same to your father on father’s day. Their “No big deal” attitude too makes it a simple day where you can just even text them and end the day

May be its not about who is being more appreciated here. In general, women are more vocal about their emotional side. Be it pain or happiness they express it and believe in detailing. Whereas men believe in fewer words and are practical beings. Men communicate in different ways. They believe in doing things rather expressing them in words. We cannot overlook the fact that they protect, provide and sacrifice for their family. But with less verbal communication, the affection towards the family might seem distant, which might not be the case.

Having said that, we have also heard about children who repent not having said things to their fathers, about how much love and care they have for them. Our chances as children to prove our fondness and admiration towards our father, through action, might be less but here words do help.

So let’s make our father feel special too and wish him “happy Father’s day” with a hug.
