Matching Modi’s charisma will be a challenge as no leader has been so popular among people ever. You vote to a person more than a party sometimes. You admire a person’s works, the way you would connect to the leader, have hopes of a better future and even judge the party based on that person’s performance. We never say BJP run government, rather prefer saying it Modi government. Though its whole party’s work and cannot be a one-man show but the face of the party also matters. Can one imagine any other person winning our trust the way Modi has or rather in the current scenario, find anyone else suitable to be called our Prime Minister if not him?
There has been some glitches and some major developments too by BJP. The speed with which they began, they had to fumble at certain points. Bringing down inflation has been a challenge for any party in power and so is improving the economic growth of the country. Initially, this govt too struggled with high inflation but gradually it has come down and maintained so for quite some time.
Farmer’s plight too is still a major concern and is the greatest problem of India. Farmers spend more than they earn, consumers pay high prices for everything, all this with a result of a rich middleman. Though Modi govt has given us that hope of better tomorrow, the hope will turn into a belief only when govt gives relief to farmers and there is no farmer who has to resort to suicide to end his problem.
One major step or rather daring one was demonetization. The main reason for this to be implemented was to end black money and corruption. The government said that demonetization will only trouble rich, but it did affect the poor more. They hastily implemented it, without proper precaution of at least checking the number of ATMs a village would have if people everywhere are going to be affected by it. With one or two ATMs in a village and initial restrictions in withdrawal amount, the poor faced all the brunt. But can one also ignore the increase in number of tax filers and tax collection? What about the black money collected. Though black money in form of cash may hold less percentage compared to real estate and gold but it did help clean India to a certain extent giving it a fresh start. With a dip in rupee value and GDP, demonetization was considered a failure. But it has gradually picked up and as with any new implementation there are initial hiccups, now there has been steady growth in GDP and rupee value and experts believe it will stay so for a longer time.
On the other hand, the govt enforced on every citizen having their 12-digit unique identification number called Aadhar. Having Aadhar is helping people to take the benefits of all the government schemes and subsidies be the LPG, Banking, digital locker and many more.
On the other hand, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana too helped citizens and nation by the digital economy. Now you could open a bank account with zero balance with coverage of accidental insurance. There are certain rules and regulations attached but it has proved to be a major benefit to people and government. Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana and Ayushman Bharat are also few of the other major schemes launched by the government.
The area where the government reached its apex was the infrastructure. There was a tremendous difference in what this government has done in the construction of national highways than any other govt before. The vast improvement and the speed with which the connectivity was improved be it railways, roadways, aviation or waterways definitely did give rise to new India.
Other than different schemes launched by govt, there were few awareness campaigns too that was highly promoted by the BJP like Beto Padhao Beti Bachao and Swachh Bharath. We can also not forget the major development in legal reform that helped Muslim women to come out off the orthodox belief of Triple Talaq.
One of the major reasons why people would think of voting them back in power will be them efficiently running a corruption free government. None of their ministers were involved in major scams or corruption charges and in doing so they also have our gratitude in retaining our faith in politics and politicians. Their intentions seemed right with the implementation of demonetization, benami property amendment act or by making India digital. And by also showing countries like China or Pakistan their right place rather pleasing them, which the previous govt did fail, they gave us an additional reason to trust them even more.
I might have highlighted all the good and have neglected in mentioning the mistakes done by them, but these reasons are enough for one to vote them again. We must be practical enough to understand that any government who needs to do good for their nation and with what they have inherited by the previous govt, will need more than 5 years to bring substantial changes. Making women come out of their domestic drudgery and protecting their health by Ujjwala yojana or Saubhagya yojana which has pulled India out of darkness are also major points that cannot be overlooked.
I will proudly be called a bhakt and vote for BJP, I would rather be selfish and wish that my kids grow in a better nation, I would rather have hope and live with faith than suffocate in a stagnant environment.
I will vote for BJP and wish every Indian would.
