Hara Bara Kebab

Green colour is always soothing to the eyes. Be it nature or food. Peaceful it is. True to its name, this dish hara bara kebab is so green and nutritious as well. With the goodness of spinach, peas and potatoes, these kebabs are a big hit with kids and adults.  With spinach being the major ingredient in this recipe, we are adding an excellent source of vitamin and iron to our diet. 

Ingredients: 

Spinach – 2 cups chopped (I used two medium size bunch) 

Green peas- 1 cup 

Potatoes- 2 (medium size) 

Green chillies – 3 (can vary) 

Coriander leaves – half cup chopped 

Chaat masala – 1 tsp. 

Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp. 

Besan / gram flour – nearly 3 tbsp. 

Bread crumbs – (optional, use only if you don’t get dough consistency right) 

Garam masala – 1 tsp. 

Salt to taste 

Oil – 3 to 4 tbsp. 

Procedure: 

Blanch the spinach ( Put them in hot water for some time ) , then drain the water completely and run it once with cold water ( to stop it from being overcooked).

Boil the potatoes and peas. 

Dry roast the gram flour till u get a nice aroma. Don’t over roast it. 

grind together coriander leaves, blanched spinach, green peas and green chillies. 

In a bowl, mash the boiled potatoes and add roasted gram flour, grinded mixture, salt, chaat masala, ginger garlic paste and garam masala. 

If you don’t get a non-sticky dough, you can add bread crumbs. 

Make round patties out of it and shallow fry them on hot pan. Cook them untill they are crispy and golden brown on both the sides. 

Serve hot with chutney or a ketchup.
